Hi. Come on in. I’ve had a long weekend so I have a good strong pot of coffee brewing, join me for a cup and I’ll tell you a story.
——
“Look, he has a tear coming out of his eye.
“I feel as though we are seeing each other.”
Otto stood quietly as a tear did indeed drop down from the corner of his eye. He had shown up to help this young lady drop more deeply into herself. She needed to acknowledge the way that her trauma was creating a people pleasing person.
As they were resonating together, Otto finally had the permission he needed to shed a tear about his own trauma. So, they cried together in a beautiful resonance that stopped time long enough for them to both acknowledge that they are ok and worthy of being loved from a more sovereign place.
When I saw Otto the following day, I could see the lightness in him. I knew he had really moved into a more whole way of being. When I saw this same student that next day, she looked much lighter as well. The magic of resonance and permission and recognition and wholeness was working.
This is the way of the horse in the workshops such as the one we just had.
The beauty of how the horses show up and the horses know just how to help us move into a deeper place of self acceptance and self love. When the intention for wholeness of relationship is set, the horses have permission to truly speak and to teach and to facilitate deep healing.
As I sat with Otto later that day, I finally heard his story from his perspective. Otto has fabulous bloodlines. In fact, his sire was imported from Germany in order to continue those bloodlines here in the US. Otto has been shown in Dressage and Jumping with good success. His success shined through so well, he became one of the top school horses in an exclusive barn in California.
Otto had to show up for people. He had to be ‘on’ when they were ready for him. He had to be ready to go at all times, just in case someone had an agenda with him in mind. He never really had time to be a horse in the way that would allow him to let down his guard and to draw appropriate boundaries around his own sovereign soul.
One woman in Otto’s life fell in love with him and when she was moving to Colorado purchased him to be her partner. They used to go out on trail rides together in conjunction with the showing. Otto had felt like he was finally being seen in a deeper way of connection and balance with this woman.
Unfortunately, this woman’s life changed suddenly and drastically so that she had to give Otto up. Otto was given to a young family who had no previous horse experience. They all thought he’d make a great first horse for the 10 year old horse crazy daughter. Well, you see, Otto is 17hh. He’s big. He’s had handling from many different hands and knows how to take advantage of his size with unconscious and inexperienced hands. Not in a mean way, but in a way that allows him to express his opinion in sure ways.
Otto had his walls up. He was not going to let just anyone in again.
This 10 year old and her family had no idea what to do about this, and she became disenchanted and even fearful around him.
Along came me. I was asked to help the daughter and Otto develop a relationship. By the time I was invited over to meet Otto this young lady wanted nothing to do with him, so we never did any work together at all. I was asked if I knew anyone who would just take Otto.
What did I say? Well, I said I would take him and then seek a new home for him through my networks. So I went to pick him up with every intention of finding the perfect situation for him.
I’m the classic foster fail. Otto is still at Mustang Hollow 8 years later. Otto is not going anywhere! He is part of the healing herd at Mustang Hollow. The very strong and knowing herd who has permission to speak and to know that we listen.
With the intent of the workshop set as the container where Awakened Hearts are encouraged to come forward to develop a deeper relationship with wholeness, Otto stepped up in deep resonance with one of the students.
Otto had felt like he had not been listened to for much of his life. Otto felt like he had not been seen and that he had to give of himself so much to others that he had become ‘zombie like.’ He felt like he had to give more than he received so that he could survive. He felt like had to be a people pleaser so people would like him and he could remain ‘safe.’
When this young woman opened her heart to receive a horse who would help her move her own wounds to the surface for healing, Otto knew that they had the same wound, so he stepped up. He said let’s heal together. We can resonate into wholeness together.
“I feel like we are seeing each other and it feels so good to be seen,” she said.
Otto shed a tear. Otto stayed with this young lady all weekend as her guide into a deeper relationship with herself and greater wholeness.
As the weekend closed and the horses were turned out into the pasture I looked over and saw Otto. I don’t say this lightly when I say, he was glowing! That horse’s aura was so big and so bright he looked like a big ball of golden light hanging out on the pasture. Wow! Otto had been seen and now he saw himself as beautiful. Otto could stand, occupy and radiate his own loving and loved soul.
When I watched this student walk to her car, she was glowing too. She went forward to stand, occupy and radiate her own loving and loved soul.
This is the power of an intentional relationship for wholeness.
Otto shed a tear. They saw each other. They now know they can be safe being just who they are.
Hey, thanks for sitting a spell.
How beautiful and moving. I adore horses. They are all I want to be. They appreciate freedom, are strong yet sensitive, sociable and fun. They should be treated with dignity, always. ❤️
Awesome times a GOOGAL!!!!
